Latah County is a county located in the U.S. state of Idaho. It was created in 1886 and named for the Latah Creek, whose name comes from the Chinook Jargon and means "tooth" or "teeth". As of the 2000 Census the county had a population of 34,935 (2005 estimate: 34,714) . The county seat is Moscow. The county is home of the University of Idaho. The county is in North Central Idaho in an area known as the Palouse which is famous for its rolling hills and rich agriculture. Latah County is the only county in the U.S. established by an act of Congress. Latah County comprises the Moscow, ID Micropolitan Statistical Area. (from wikipedia)
